Last night Ruby Princess transited the busy shipping lanes of the Dover Straits at 01:00, initially in an easterly direction. The Dover Straits is one of the busiest shipping channels in the world and lies at the narrowest section of the English Channel between Britain and France, at just 18 miles across. At 08:00 we were clear of the Dover Straits and rounded the south east coast of England and set a northerly course through the North Sea oil and gas production fields. After Ruby Princess cleared the production fields we followed the east coast of Scotland to the north towards our next port of call South Queensferry. No vídeo abaixo juntámos dois clássicos dos cruzeiros da Princess. Primeiro o espetáculo "Sail With Princess" superiormente interpretado pelos bailarinos do Ruby Princess na Piazza e depois o "Champagne Waterfall" com a presença do Commodore Giuseppe Romano, sendo a cor predominante o vermelho!

Log of the Cruise – Le Havre 24th May 2014

Early in the morning the ships clocks set forward 60 minutes in order to be on the same time as France. We then boarded our local pilot at 05:13, 7 miles outside the breakwaters of Le Havre. After safely boarding the pilot we proceeded thorough the breakwater and towards our berth. The ship was turned in the tight turning basin and maneuvered alongside her berth. All lines were fast and the gangways fully rigged at 07:11 and the first passengers proceeded ashore. Ruby Princess lay quietly alongside her berth until departure where she the proceeded out of the harbour and buoyed channel, disembarking the pilot at 20:51 once clear of the last buoy. We then set a north easterly course towards the English Channel Traffic Separation Scheme or better known to mariners as a TSS. In the early morning we will pass though the Dover Strait and the White Cliffs of Dover will be on the port side. Honfleur - City Walk, Harbour And Saint Catherine's Church
Honfleur, fica situada no estuário do Rio Sena, tem um belo e pitoresco porto, as suas ruas estreitas e as casas têm fachadas cobertas de ardósia, algumas pintadas por artistas conhecidos, como, por exemplo, Eugène Boudin e Claude Monet. Dá a sensação que estamos a entrar num presépio de Natal.
Fizemos um passeio pelas ruas e fomos visitar a Igreja de Sainte-Catherine, que tem uma torre sineira separada do edifício principal e é a maior igreja feita de madeira na França. Junto à mesma tinha um mercado com fruta e mariscos. Acabámos a manhã por dar a volta ao porto e beber um chocolate quente, pois lá fora estava frio e caía granizo. You're free to explore this charming town, replete with narrow cobbled streets, art galleries, sidewalk cafés and traditional craft shops. Your tour concludes with a drive across the new Normandy Bridge spanning the Seine estuary as you make your way back to the pier. |
